One of the (many) beautiful things about photography, for me, is that if I find myself in a rut, there is always a new lens, a new gadget, a new something to try and learn and get me all inspired again. Most recently, inspiration has come in the form of an olloclip attachment for my iPhone. Although it has a telephoto and wide angle option, I can’t seem to get enough of the macro lens lately.

Have I mentioned the fact that we’re moving at the end of the month?
We fell in love with the house we are currently renting so we asked our landlord if we could buy it.
They said no. But, offered us another house they own with the same floor plan except reversed. It is just around the block from us.
So, we’re moving, which might explain my absence around here.
Here are a few of the details I love about the house we rent, including some gems in the kitchen.

The boys are under quarantine because they have a weird rash (hand, foot and mouth, though it has been everywhere but their hands and feet!!!). That watermelon shaped smile might be the best I can do this week! And I’m not even going to fix that spot of dried milk on his forehead just because.

Elsewhere and otherwise, a couple of new and long-awaited babies have made their appearance in the last few days. Maybe it was the supermoon?!! Either way, the news of a brand new baby always makes me happy… Congratulations are in order to the lovely and talented Erin Creekmore Norman.

The horizon tends to be obscured most places I shoot. In this case, it was obscured by a fair. No complaints here.

I love photo sessions with toddlers. They’re just so real. They want nothing to do with sitting and posing. They want to play. They want to explore. They want to go. They want to do.

And so we did.

No better place than to do it than somewhere with lots of boardwalks to stomp around on and flowers (albeit dried) to collect at Calico Basin outside of Red Rock.

Add Lola the Boxer to the mix as the trusty hiking partner and BFF — does it get any better?

I really struggled with home as a theme. I think I wanted to showcase all of the things I love about the home we currently live in — but I didn’t have the time to pull it off. So instead, here’s a recent favorite showcasing one of the most important gathering spots in our home: the dinner table.
