Worst idea ever. I took my matchy-matchy boys to a park with a pond for some portraits. Hahaha. The littlest one loves to splash in water anything – the dog dish on good days, the toilet on bad ones. He saw the pond and bee-lined for it. I had to pry him, numerous times, from the edge of the pond. The older one, meanwhile, took off in the other direction. I was one stressed mommy with no photographs. Enter the puddle. I mean literally. When I first told Jack he could walk, splash, jump in the puddle, he looked at me like, “What’s the catch, mom?” Minutes later, we had our shoes off, jeans rolled, and had a splashtastic good time. (And a photograph or two!)
Some people ask if my boys are twins. I mostly see differences, but definitely, they look related. I love having two little boys!! Visit San Francisco Bay Area photographer Jayme Franklin for her interpretation of related.

They looked like they had a great time!
Awe…boys will be boys! I just love the fun that they had splashing around. And you don’t even look like you took these in Vegas…those geese are crazy!
This is great! I feel you on the mommy and photog exercise. I always have the best intentions for these “sessions” with my boys. Sometimes the best does come out of it though. They got to be boys and you got some wonderful captures of them being them
They look like they are having a blast! They’re adorable.
I don’t think they could be any more adorable. Jack’s hair cut is so cute. Love the one of the them inspecting the puddle. Great shots!
Tara, these photos are gorgeous!! And I bet the boys – and you – had a magical time.
How fun for them and what great capture of it. Those last ones of them looking at you are priceless! Two adorable little boys
omg, love these tara…especially the fourth shot of Jack laughing.
OMGoodness they look like they are having so much fun, what a beautiful laugh from the little one. So so cute, both of them.
Good for you letting them do something like this – I am too type A to let my kids do that!! I think they do look a lot alike, by the way! Funny how others see our kids vs how we see them, huh?
I love this series and the joy that something as simple as a puddle can bring. The size difference between your little one and the geese really brings things into perspective. Wonderful!
oh what fun! I love the middle one with both boys looking down!
Oh what fun!!! Boys really have to move! Those britches are classic and they look like they are having a ball.
LOL! love it. i can sure relate to what you wrote! but you got some great captures!
Aw cute!! Jack looks so big! And you have the same “problem” I have, they look just like their Daddy, but no question that they’re related to one another
